Immerse yourself in the mountains as you wander the Richmond Ridge Trail. This amazing and versatile alpine excursion can be enjoyed by the whole family, year-round! In the summer, enjoy sights of the verdant woodlands which are flanked by craggy vaulted peaks, and in the winter—snowshoe along the ridge and admire the bustling alpine terrain littered with skiers and intrepid adventurers. Begin your trek along the Richmond Ridge Trail from the trailhead atop Aspen Mountain. From here, track the Richmond Hill Road south. In the summer months you will likely be in the company off off-roaders, so keep an eye out for passers-by. As you hike, enjoy views of the Aspen Highlands Ski Resort in the west. As you trek you will notice the summits within the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness in the east, and the Elk Mountains in the southwest.
Revel in the grandeur of the neighboring peaks and eventually you will encounter an intersection where the Richmond Hill Road diverts southeast. Ignore this route and continue straight until you reach the trail’s end. From here, backtrack along the path back to the trailhead.
