Route Description for Blackmer and Zook Loop Trail
We love the Blackmer and Zook Loop Trail, and we know you will too. Unassumingly scenic and stimulating, the diverse terrains, vistas, and fauna will surely motivate even the most discourage hikers from persisting going around the loop. Open-year around to hikers and bikers, this adventure attracts outdoor enthusiasts of all sorts, so you will likely be sharing the route! Note that the Cheyenne Mountain State Park charges an entrance fee which typically costs around $9USD per vehicle.
Your trek along the Blackmer and Zook Loop Trail begins from the Zook Loop Trailhead. From here, head west along the Zook Loop Trail, past a small stream, and into the vast grasslands. As you wander, you will be granted awe-inspiring views of Cheyenne Mountain looming above. Soon you will reach an intersection with the Medicine Loop; take this route west, merging onto the rightmost Blackmer Loop Trail at the next junction. Hike this path up a ridge, through a forest lined with granite outcrops!
Follow this loop through the ever-changing terrains, back to the Medicine Wheel. From here, retrace your footing east along the Medicine Wheel, and Zook Loop Trails back to the trailhead.
