Route Description for Cliff Springs Trail
Cliff Springs Trail is a short and sweet adventure in the Cape Royal area of the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Cape Royal extends further into the canyon than any other part of the North Rim, so the view is excellent. This trail in particular shows off the springs that emerge from the rocky cliffs. You’ll also have an awesome view into the canyon.
This is a quick route without much elevation gain, but the footing can be rocky. Sturdy boots are a good idea and some users report being thankful they brought their poles. Aside from the rocks, this trail is well-maintained and easy to follow.
From Cape Royal Drive before the last hairpin turn to the parking area, you’ll head west across the cape. Keep to the south side of the arm of the mesa, crossing the spring to hike along a cliffside route. Our trail ends a bit before the end of the maintained route, so if you’re feeling adventurous, you can go a bit further. Otherwise, head back to the trailhead on the same path.
