Munds Mountain Trail
Munds Mountain Trail is a beautiful, lesser-known adventure near Sedona with amazing desert views. This hike doesn’t get as busy as comparable routes closer to town, which makes it an awesome choice when other routes in Sedona are packed. While we definitely recommend this hike, don’t try it without a high-clearance vehicle or you won’t be able to make it to the trailhead.

Route Description for Munds Mountain Trail
Munds Mountain Trail takes you up a grand butte to the top of Munds Mountain, where you’ll have excellent views for miles. It’s a beautiful hike that sees less traffic than other nearby trails, so add it to your list on weekends where it seems like every other hike in Sedona is packed.
For this route, you’re going to need a high-clearance vehicle. Normal cars won’t make it to the trailhead, and you’ll end up needing to park along the road and hike the rest of the way.
From the trailhead, you’ll take Schnebly Hill Trail as it traverses up the side of the butte. Look down on Merry Go Round as you make your way up to the edge of the butte. You’ll follow the cliff to the small saddle that leads to Munds Mountain. From here, soak up the views before retracing your steps back to the trailhead.

The trailhead for the Munds Mountain Trail is on Schnebly Hill road.
