It’s the end of 2016 and it’s time we reflect on the year and think of what we want to accomplish next year. This quote by Mark Twain has changed a few of our lives here on the 10hikes team and is a great frame to think of what you want to accomplish:
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
– Mark Twain
In reflecting on the past year, we had a great first year. We launched 10hikes in late-August (which was two-months late) but we still managed to beat every single goal we had for the site, both for users, number of regions, and media exposure. Along the way we received so much unsolicited positive feedback that kept us going when things were tough (thanks everybody).
Even here at the end of the year we met another major goal yesterday, re-launching 10hikes.com. Our team made a lot of improvements and gave us a base to build upon for 2017 and beyond.
We are also planning a big 2017, adding new hiking regions across North America, Britain, France, Switzerland, Austria and Italy. We’re also working on finding the best of other outdoor activities, like mountain biking, road riding, ski touring and even city walking. We want to make it easy for people to get outside and see the best of best.
Happy exploring in 2017!
