Montana’s Glacier National Park has a rich and ancient ecosystem. Appreciating that ecosystem is essential if you want to get the most out your time at the Park. To have a perfect day you should hike, ride, and star gaze. And, to respect the nature, you should do this all without a car. So, that’s what we have planned for you. A day in nature, with lots of good food and drink, with a little shopping thrown in to keep everyone happy.

A prefect day starts with a perfect nights sleep. Spend the night at the Cedar Creek Lodge in Columbia Falls. Wake up early and take advantage of their great complimentary breakfast.

From breakfast you’ll head to the shuttle. The shuttle will take you to Glacier National Park’s West Entrance. It lets you leave your car alone during your entire stay. The hike you’re shuttling to is Hidden Lake Overlook. It’s a nice 1-2h hike with great views.

After your hike, your next adventure is on horseback! Swan Mountain Outfitters offer tours on horseback and for this weekend only they are giving you 10% off any trail leaving from the West Glacier corral at the Crown of the Continent Discovery Center. Make your reservation by calling 406-387-4405 and give them the discount code: "SwanMountain10Hikes".  It’s a different way to experience the scenery and we really enjoy it! Once your wild-west adventure is done, shuttle back to the lodge.

From the Lodge it’s only a ten-minute walk to Three Forks Grille for lunch. Their menu is creative and fun. We recommend whatever they have on special. It’s always something new and exciting!

Walk another twenty minutes and you’ll reach Backslope Brewing. When you purchase a glass or growler of any standard beer give them the code “Backslope10Hikes” and receive 10% off! So sit back and enjoy a few beers and then later buy a growler to bring back to the Lodge. Then, walk downtown and look around the shops. It’s the afternoon, relax and unwind. There is lots to see and some great window-shopping to be had. When you’ve had your fill, head back to the Lodge, maybe crack some of those cold ones while you get ready for a great dinner.

Ten minutes from the Lodge and you will reach the restaurant. The Nite Owl and The Backroom are local favourites. We recommend going to The Backroom. In the summer they have an excellent patio. Their chicken and rib combo is too good to pass up.

Once you’re back at the lodge you can enjoy their outdoor spaces and stare up at Montana’s star-filled night sky, or if all the walking has got you a little sore, head to their indoor hot tub and have a soak before bed.
