Leave the popular tourist spots behind to discover the Caribbean side of beautiful Costa Rica
Costa Rica is a beautiful country full of natural wonders around every corner. The Costa Rica Off the Beaten Track tour skips the popular tourist spots and takes you to more remote locations for a truly authentic experience.
Your tour begins in the beautiful Pacuare Rainforest where you’ll reach your secluded accommodations by raft- what a way to travel! During your stay, you’ll discover the beauty and diversity of the rainforest and learn about the culture of one of its Indigenous communities. An exciting whitewater adventure caps off your time in Pacuare, and then you’ll move on to the southern Caribbean coast. Spend time here relaxing in the sun or exploring the beautiful beaches of the quieter coast. This tour offers a more unique and adventurous experience as you journey off the beaten path to explore natural Costa Rica!
Receive a warm Costa Rican welcome when you arrive in San Jose. Your transfer will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel in the city. Explore on your own for the afternoon to discover the sights and personality of San Jose.
Your day starts early with a morning drive to the Pacuare River. You’ll go on a scenic ride down the river and into the rainforest, where you’ll find your hotel in the wilderness. Get settled and explore the incredible forest that surrounds you.
Adventure into the rainforest with your guide on a five-hour hike through the pristine wilderness. You’ll be visiting the Cabecar Indigenous reserve where you’ll learn about this amazing community that thrives in the middle of the forest.
Instead of travelling back the way you came, you’ll be going through the rapids! Your whitewater rafting trip has rapids up to Class IV+ and will be an exciting ride! It’s a four-hour paddle to the town of Siquirres, where your shuttle will meet you to take you to the coast. If you chose the rental car option, this is where you’ll pick up your vehicle.
You have the next three days to enjoy the beautiful southern Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. Relax and enjoy the sun or explore the natural beaches in the area.
This morning you’ll want to enjoy your last cup of delicious Costa Rican coffee before you start the four-hour drive back to San Jose. If you are driving yourself you can drop the rental vehicle off at the airport before you board your flight home.

I’ve been using 10Adventures route guides for a while, but had never booked a tour. My wife and I booked a self-guided hike in Greece and were so impressed with how we were able navigate the route without a guide with the detailed and easy to follow itinerary. We enjoy travelling independently, and 10Adventures made that happen.

I’ve adventured around a lot of Canada and the US, but I’ve always wanted to explore other parts of the world. I felt a bit scared before booking my trip to Israel, but my conversations with the team at 10Adventures helped ease any worry. I can’t wait to explore more of the world!

Travel companies have had to go through a lot during the pandemic but 10Adventures were super flexible and accommodating nonetheless. I had to cancel my tour in France due to the pandemic. 10Adventures was great and let me reschedule for a later date!

Whenever I’m looking for my next adventure 10Adventures never fails. Their routes all over England are my main go to for exploring and I have only had great experiences booking both guided and self-guided trips in Europe and South America with them. I am looking into Africa next.

I just got back from backpacking in the Sierra Nevada, and WOW. What an unreal journey! The alpine meadows, waterfalls, and the lakeside camping spot were memorable highlights! I wonder what other tours 10Adventures has to offer. That one went so well that I am now convinced I need to book another!

I'm not a big fan of traveling because of my fear of flying, but my girlfriend convinced me to go on the Aurora Borealis Tour in the Yukon. I will never forget the mesmerizing northern lights. Such a romantic (and cold) getaway. I would highly recommend it.

Wow! I am so happy with the experience I had with booking through 10Adventures for my tour in Italy! I worked with Nadine and she was super easy-going and helpful when it came to tweaking the itinerary provided on the website. 10/10 would book through 10Adventures again.
