Route Description for Silvercreek Trail
If you are only after a short hiking route with some stunning views of the San Juan Mountains, then the Silvercreek trail will be a great option to explore. The creek contains acidic water that flows from the volcanic rock above and turns the creek bed and surrounding rocks a brilliant white in certain areas, making for a fascinating walk in the mountains.
Setting out from the trailhead, you will make your way to the northeast across an open grassy area, before entering into the cover of the forest. Here, you will continue on to the northeast as the trail runs parallel to the winding banks of Silver Creek and its striking white creek bed.
After gaining a fair amount of elevation along the trail, you will come to a scenic meadow that marks its endpoint and offers beautiful views of nearby Redcloud Peak to the southeast. Once you have taken in the views, simply turn back along the trail for a return to the trailhead.
