Route Description for Craig Cerrig-Gleisiad Circular Walk
While the walking routes leading up the central beacons may garner the most attention, there are plenty of other trails, such as the Craig Cerrig-Gleisiad Circular Walk, that offer views of Brecon Beacons National Park that are just as scenic and less-populated. If you are looking to experience the natural beauty of the park without the crowds, be sure to check this one out!
Setting out from the car park, you will make your way to the southwest, heading through a serene stretch of woodland terrain and crossing over a small stream in order to begin climbing up the steep hillside. After working your way up the steep slope and onto the ridge, you will follow it north while taking in the spectacular views of the surrounding mountains.
Keeping the steep drop off on your right, you will eventually come to Fan Frynych, where you will enjoy some more amazing views of the central beacons to the east, as well as the surrounding farmland. Once you have finished taking in the views, make your way down the hillside to the southeast and traverse the rugged valley floor on the way back to the trailhead where you started.
