Route Description for Christmas Common, Aston Rowant, Getty Estate Walk

The Christmas Common, Aston Rowant, Getty Estate Walk is a fantastic walk that has you climbing some steep section, propelling your heart rate to increase. This walk can also get super muddy outside of summer months, so consider wearing legitimate trail shoes if you plan on taking on this hike during colder, rainier seasons.

This circuit makes for a great trail run and a fantastic walk. Expect to encounter a reel of incredible views as you make your way through the undulating countryside!

To begin the Christmas Common, Aston Rowant, Getty Estate Walk, head left from the Fox & Hounds along Christmas Common Road, going in a clockwise direction. Soon, you’ll reach a path veering left off of Christmas Common Road. Take this path for around 400m before meeting up another path that will take you left. And this path merges with Station Road, which you’ll stay on for about 200m before taking a right at a Y-intersection.

Continue following this path as it loops around, eventually meeting up with Christmas Common Road. Follow Christmas Common Road for 40m! Veer off to the path running parallel to the road. And continue as you it loops around. Around 3km later, you will reach a Y-junction, but stay on the same path to stay on the loop (a sharp right).

Walk through Highfield Shaw towards another Y-junction, where you’ll head right. Continue straight until you arrive at another junction. Take another right to walk past Charkley Shaw. Shortly after, you’ll reach another Y-intersection. Head left this time to go back to Christmas Common Road and back to your car.
