Route Description for Aiken Canyon Loop Trail
The Aiken Canyon Loop reveals the beauty of the wilderness. This ever-changing scenery is awe-inspiring from grasslands, sagebrush meadows, and red rock cliffs. Accessible to hikers of all skill levels and ages, this route proves to be a wonderful weekend escape. We love a good trail that can be enjoyed year-round, and this one can be! Note that sections of this path are overgrown and unmarked, so we suggest wearing pants and bringing along the trail GPS.
Your trek along the Aiken Canyon Loop begins from the trailhead off Turkey Canyon Ranch Road. From here, head north along the Aiken Canyon Trail. Follow this path through the meadowlands, enjoying sights of the upcoming craggy outcroppings. Soon after your departure, you will reach an intersection. Here, keep right and follow the route clockwise. As you hike, the terrain will evolve, becoming more forested and rockier. Enjoy the red-hued bluffs that protrude from the landscape.
As you wander along the single-track path, it will begin to curve west before diverting south. Now hiking south, the route will begin to gradually descend back to the intersection. Here, reconnect with the main trail, retracing your steps back to the trailhead.
