Route Description for Gold Camp Reservoir and South Suburban Loop
The Gold Camp Reservoir and South Suburban Loop is a wonderful escape into nature without having to travel too far from the city center. Located on the base of the Front Range foothills, you will be rewarded with awe-inspiring mountain vistas as you travel along the grass-lined path. The exposed terrain warrants epic mountain views, but also scorching hot conditions in the summer months, so pack some sunscreen and extra water on warm days! Note this path is shared with bikers, so be mindful of passers-by.
Departing from the Chamberlain Trailhead, the Gold Camp Reservoir and South Suburban Loop travels west up the steep path. Navigate a switchback and the trail will straighten out, heading north. Follow this route along the eastern edge of the Gold Camp Reservoir and you will eventually encounter an intersection. Here, keep right and follow the Chamberlain Trail southeast, shortly merging onto The Chutes Trail. From here, hook onto the South Suburban Upper Loop around the shore of the South Suburban Reservoir.
Enjoy the sights from the exposed terrain as you venture around the reservoir. When you complete the loop, reconnect with The Chutes Trail and retrace your footing along the routes all the way back to the trailhead, marking the end of your adventure.
