Route Description for Lower Bear Creek Park Trail
The Lower Bear Creek Trail is an epic adventure. Block out the hustle and bustle of the city and reconnect with nature along this charming trail. Whether you want to hike, bike, or run, you can get some exercise without having to travel out of the comforts of the city. Note that much of the trail is exposed, so we encourage you to wear a sunhat and sunscreen in the summer months! You may also encounter snakes in the warmer weather, so keep an eye and ear out for them as you trek.
Begin your journey along the Lower Bear Creek Trail from the trailhead off West Rio Grande Street. From here, head southeast along the Bear Creek Trail, crossing over the gurgling waters of the creek. Soon you will encounter an intersection; keep left here. This section of the route will guide you east along Bear Creek. Enjoy the ambiance of the running waters and ignore the first two junctions. At the third, keep right and hike through the middle of the park.
At the next intersection, keep right, and you will be diverted west. As you hike, enjoy the Rocky Mountains' sparse sights as you hike along the path. Eventually, the route will lead you back to the initial intersection. Here, keep left and retrace your footing across the creek, back to the trailhead.
