Abundant with hiking routes, the Red Rock Rim to Red Rock Canyon Hike in the Open Space might just be our favorite way to explore the rock garden. Hike along the mesa overlooking the rolling foothills and enjoy the immense outcrops that decorate the area. With ample scenery to admire along this easy-going path, this route attracts outdoor enthusiasts of all skill levels and ages! So, if you seek a more tranquil meander, we suggest heading out in the morning or during the weekdays. Note the red rocks radiate heat in the summer months, so be sure to bring sun protection and plenty of water!

Your picturesque adventure along the Red Rock Rim to Red Rock Canyon Hike begins from the Red Rock Canyon Trailhead in the Open Space. Though this circuit hike can be completed from either direction, we prefer to track clockwise. From the trailhead, head east along the Lower Hogback Trail, which will divert you south. At the intersection, take the rightmost Red Rock Rim Trail, which will guide you south, along the base of a looming bluff.

Eventually, you will reach a junction with the Landfill Road, keep right, and this route will quickly deliver you to another intersection. Here, turn right, then immediately take another right onto the Red Rock Canyon Trail. Follow this path north, past the Lyons Sandstone Quarry and a scenic reservoir that sits atop the mesa. Revel in the beautiful vistas, then track this route all the way back to the trailhead, completing the circuit.
