Route Description for Templeton and Mesa Loop Trail

The Templeton and Mesa Loop Trail is a great way to explore Palmer Park. Located near the city’s center, Palmer Park is a unique rock garden that juts from the landscape. Woven with a myriad of trails, there are an ample number of routes to experience. So whether you are hoping to spend 30 minutes or 3 hours, you can explore Palmer Park and its diverse scenes. Note that sections of the path are rocky and uneven; we strongly suggest a pair of sturdy footwear! We also recommend using the trail GPS as the dozens of merging and intersecting paths can be confusing!

Embark on your adventure along the Templeton and Mesa Loop Trail from the Yucca Trailhead. From here, head northeast. At the first intersection, take the Templeton Trail along the eastern side of mesa. As you wander, be sure to admire the unique granite sculptures that decorate the landscape. Hike the undulating path northwest, enjoying sights of the cityscape below. Eventually, the path will guide you south, along the western ridge of the mesa. This section of the path is uneven, so mind your footing on the terrain.

Soon, you will reach an intersection with the Mesa Trail. At this point, you will be guided northeast back up the mesa. Enjoy sights of the Front Range summits that line the horizon, and you will pass the Dog Park. At this junction, track the Yucca Trail back to the trailhead, marking the end of your adventure!
