Route Description for Upper Loop Trail

Make sure to charge your camera because the sights along the Upper Loop Trail warrant perfect photo opportunities. This amazing adventure, though short, reveals awe-inspiring views of the Garden of the Gods without having to tackle a long hike. This popular trek is a great weekend escape, so don’t be surprised if you have to share the route with fellow adventurers. Additionally, the rocky terrain radiates heat in the summer months, so bring sun protection and water!

Embark on your excursion along the Upper Loop Trail from the trailhead off Juniper Way Loop. Departing from the trailhead, the Upper Loop Trail heads north to an intersection. At the intersection, take the Central Garden Loop west. This trail will deliver epic views of the Three Sisters directly in the north. Enjoy the sights of the dramatic red rock spires that protrude from the terrain, and at the next junction, turn right.

Now tracking along the Upper Loop Trail, you will be rewarded with sights of Gray Rock and the Sleeping Giant as you make your way back to the trailhead, ending your scenic-packed adventure.
