Route Description for Tehidy Wood Circular Walk
Walking the Tehidy Wood Circular Trail is an easy-going experience in Cornwall, although you will find that there are a number of intersecting paths along the route that can make navigation a bit tricky. Bring a GPS or a trail map in order to stay on the correct path while on your walk. Additionally, some of the pathways can become a bit muddy after a period of heavy rainfall, so make sure to wear water-resistant footwear to better traverse the trails.
Even though there aren’t any beautifully scenic vistas along this trail, it is still an exceptional walking route that will reveal the beauty of Cornwall’s forests. Easy to navigate paths and laidback terrain make this a fun adventure that the entire family will be able to enjoy. Charming lakes, mature trees, and calming forest pathways await on this relaxing adventure in the largest forest in West Cornwall.
Setting out from the car park, you will head to the southwest and pick up the trail, following it into the forest and keeping left at the first junction to pass by a small pond. Keeping left along the trail, you will cross over two streams and skirt around the edge of a lake on your right side, as you make your way through the tranquil expanse of the forest.
After arriving at a junction near a small bridge, you will turn to the left and follow the path as it climbs slightly uphill through the forest on a short loop that runs in a counterclockwise direction. After completing the loop, head back to the junction and cross over the bridge, making your way north through a stretch of wood that offers intermittent views of several fields on your right.
Follow the trail as it climbs gently uphill once again, before looping around to the east on the return leg of the journey. Take your time and appreciate the peaceful woodland setting of Tehidy Wood, as you make your way through this last stretch of forest before arriving at the edge of South Drive. Here, you will follow the road south for a short distance, before branching off to the right to briefly re-enter the forest and pass by the Tehidy Country Park Cafe on the way back to the car park where you started the Tehidy Wood Circular Walk.
