If you are after a pleasant journey along the Cornish Coast, then the Trevose Head Circular Walk is a great option; however, as with most coastal walks in the regions, you will need to traverse some rugged terrain at several points throughout the route. Be sure to wear proper walking footwear to better traverse the trail. Additionally, parking at the designated trailhead is limited, so you will need to arrive early or time your walk for a less busy time if you are wanting to secure a space.

Featuring stunning coastal views and a 19th Century lighthouse, the Trevose Head Circular Walk is an exceptional adventure that will allow you to take in the natural and historic beauty of Cornwall. Along the trail, you will pass by countless rocky coves, sandy beaches, and charming villages that will make for an amazing day of exploration in the southwest of England.

Setting out from the Constantine Bay car park, make your way west for 61 m and turn to the right onto the South West Coast Path. From here, you will make your way north along the edge of Constantine Bay for 0.9 km, taking in the views of the sandy beach and Constantine Island, before arriving at a junction next to Booby’s Bay.

Keep left at the fork and continue along the rugged and rocky terrain of the coast for 1.3 km, where you will meet up with a road near the viewp[oint overlooking Mackerel Cove. Following the road to the left, you will skirt around the edge of Stincking Cove and cross over another road to take in the beauty of the 19th Century Trevose Head Lighthouse.

After admiring the historic structure and the beautiful views of the sea beyond, you will make your way east around Trevose Head to reach the Padstow Lifeboat Station on Barras Point after 0.9 km. From here, you will cross over the road and follow along the coastal trail for the next 3.2 km, taking in the absolutely stunning views of the secluded coves and sandy beaches of the Cornish Coast. During this segment of the walk, you will pass by scenic locales such as Long Cove, Mother Ivy’s Bay, Big Guns Cove, Onjohn Cove, and Harlyn Bay.

Once you have met up with the road near the Harlyn Bridge, turn right and follow it southwest through Harlyn for 0.2 km, before turning right on Sandy Lane. After 95 m, turn left onto the footpath and follow it between the residential buildings, crossing over a series of stiles to arrive at the edge of a quiet country road. Turn right here and follow the road to the southwest for 1.1 km to arrive in Constantine Bay.

Instead of simply making your way through the village for the final leg of the walk, turn right onto the footpath just after the fork in the road and pass through the kissing gate, following the trail west as it leads you back towards the waters of Constantine Bay. After 0.9 km, turn left at the junction along the beach and follow the trail as it leads you back towards the car park where you started the Trevose Head Circular Walk

Trevose Head Lighthouse

Located on Trevose Head, a headland along the Cornish coastline, the Trevose Head Lighthouse was first constructed in 1847. The purpose of the lighthouse was to serve as a navigational aid for mariners, as previously there were no lighthouses along the stretch of coastline between Land’s End and Lundy. The tower is 27 m tall and its light can be seen from over 56.3 km away on a clear night.
