Campbell Mesa and Anasazi Loop

The Campbell Mesa and Anasazi Loop is an easy 4.8 km hiking trail that sees heavy traffic. This route is easy to reach from the eastern side of Flagstaff and it provides great views of the ponderosa pines, big wildflower blooms in summer, and wildlife like elk (and the occasional tarantula, for better or worse) to see. This route is family-friendly and dog-friendly and the route is well-defined and well-signed.

Route Description for Campbell Mesa and Anasazi Loop
The Campbell Mesa and Anasazi Loop is a pleasant hike that’s easy to reach from Flagstaff, especially the eastern side of the city. This route is family-friendly and dog-friendly and in the summer, there are swaths of purple wildflowers along the trail. You might be lucky enough to spot some elk and potentially unlucky enough to see tarantulas on this hike. Just kidding, we appreciate all wildlife.
This route is well-defined and easy to follow and the signage is good, so a downloaded GPS route isn’t a necessity. You may come across mountain bikers, so remember to share the trail.
From the trailhead, go left onto Forest Service Road 790. Go straight through the first junction and then take the second trail on your right at the next, which will get you onto Campbell Mesa Trail. Bear left at the fork with Anasazi Trail. Cruise through the loop, soaking up the scenery. At the top of the loop, go right onto Anasazi Trail and follow this back to the trailhead.
