Route Description for Comanche Reservoir Trail

Hike the woodland route past several shimmering lakes and over several alpine streams. The Comanche Reservoir Trail is an awesome excursion into the Colorado wilderness. Leave the city in the rear-view mirror and trek along the lush woodland trail. Enjoy the ambiance of the running streams and the wind whistling through the towering pines. There are plenty of water sources along the way to filter water or for your pups to rehydrate. Note that you can only camp at the designated sites along the trail and around Browns Lake, where campfires are prohibited.

Begin your journey along the Comanche Reservoir Trail from the parking lot. Take the route signposted for Beaver Creek Trail and it will guide you along the banks of the Hourglass Reservoir. Here, veer right and you will be diverted onto the Browns Lake Trail. Hike up the steep terrain to an overlook of the Comanche Reservoir below and the mountainous landscape above. Follow the route and you will notice several dispersed campsites that line the path. Soon the path will open to Browns Lake.

Enjoy the scenic lake flanked by towering rocky cliffs. Pitch a tent at one of the many dispersed campsites or simply enjoy the view before beginning your return. When you are ready, retrace your steps along the route back to the trailhead and car park.
