Route Description for Roosevelt Point Trail
Roosevelt Point Trail is a short and sweet adventure in the Cape Royal area of the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Cape Royal extends further into the canyon than any other part of the North Rim, so the view is excellent. This trail in particular shows off Tritle Peak, Colter Butte, and Swilling Butte.
This is a quick half-mile route without any elevation gain, so no special preparations are required. Hikers of any age and skill level can make use of this trail. Although it’s more of a quick walk to a viewpoint than a hike, we still recommend making the trip if you’re on Cape Royal.
From Cape Royal Drive, the trail begins at the Roosevelt Lookout. You’ll hike up along the road to where the loop starts. We recommend staying left to circle the trail facing the view. Following the route will take you back to Roosevelt Lookout.
