    There are lots of ways to reach Sunrise Camp, but the easy hike on Shadow Lakes Trail is the best family-friendly, relaxing option. With little elevation gain required and lots of views to enjoy on the way, the hike to Sunrise Camp on Shadow Lakes Trail is a great way to soak up the beauty of the airport without needing to work too hard.

    Route Description for Shadow Lakes Trail to Sunrise Camp

    Of all the ways to reach Sunrise Camp, using Shadow Lakes Trail is one of the best options for families, beginner hikers, and those who just want to enjoy a more relaxed trip. With little elevation gain and nice views, this hike is a pleasant outing in Mount Rainier National Park.

    From Sunrise, leave on theSunrise Rim Trail to the south. At the junction with the trail that leads to Emmons vista, keep right. At the next junction, continue straight on. The trail turns into the Wonderland Trail, where you’ll cross two creeks before winding to the shore of Shadow Lake.

    Shadow Lake is not the highlight of this trail, so keep going. Once you reach Sunrise Camp shortly thereafter, you’ll be treated to pretty views in all directions. You can either retrace your steps or hike a loop by taking the Wonderland Trail to Sunrise Campground Trail if you’d prefer a longer route back.

    Getting to the Shadow Lakes Trail to Sunrise Camp Trailhead

    To get to the trailhead for the hike to Sunrise Camp on Shadow Lakes Trail from Enumclaw, drive east on State Route 410 for 69.2 km to Sunrise Park Road. Make a right at the fork and drive for 24.1 km to the end of the road at the Sunrise Visitor Center.
