Jacobs Ladder and Edale Circular
Walking the Jacobs Ladder and Edale Circular is a fun, if exhausting experience that will take you to some of the best highlights in Peak District National Park. While out on the trail, you will summit several peaks such as Hollins Cross, Mam Tor, and South Head, all while enjoying spectacular views across the picturesque farms, woodlands, and rugged hilltops that characterize the English countryside. This walk does feature a lot of off-trail walking, so make sure to bring your GPS to stay on the correct route.

Route Description for Jacobs Ladder and Edale Circular Walk

With an overall distance of 29.1 km, the Jacobs Ladder and Edale Circular Walk is a long-distance walking route that will take you to many points of interest that will allow you to fully appreciate the natural beauty of the Peak District landscape. The trail sets out from the village of Edale and heads south to climb up the Great Ridge to visit the summits of Hollins Cross and Mam Tor. After taking in the breathtaking scenery, you will cut across the picturesque Derbyshire countryside to summit South Head and arrive in Hayfield along the banks of the River Sett. From here, make your way northeast towards the Kinder Reservoir before trekking along the edge of the Kinder Scout National Nature Reserve. After a stretch of walking along the winding River Noe, you will arrive back in Edale having experienced many of the sights that the Peak District is famous for.

To reach the car park for the Jacobs Ladder and Edale Circular from Hope, drive north on Edale Road for 4.7mi, where you will find the car park on the right in the heart of the village.
