Route Description for Maxine Lakin Nature Trail
The Maxine Lakin Nature Trail is an easy hike that starts and ends in Mountain View Park. It climbs up along the base of North Mountain over the course of a short loop. This route is a nice way to get outside for hikers of all skill levels, and stronger ones can continue to the summit of North Mountain to lengthen their hike if they’d like.
The trail is quite rocky, so we recommend good footwear. Even though this is a short hike, bring water with you and plan to visit outside of the heat of the day if possible.
From the trailhead, hike through the park and towards the mountain on Nature Trail #60. Where the loop splits, continue going up the mountain. Watch carefully for the right turn to stay on the loop or you may accidentally find yourself at the summit–not a bad thing, usually. You’ll descend down the opposite side of the loop and retrace your steps into the park and back to the trailhead.
