Route Description for Warpaint Loop
The Warpaint Loop is a hike in the South Mountain Preserve of Phoenix that gives you the mountain views without asking you to climb a thing. This loop is super relaxed with no elevation gain to note. Little kids, families, beginners, and hikers of all skill levels can use it to stretch their legs and enjoy the scenery of the desert. Look for birds, lizards, and wildflowers.
Even though this is an easy hike, it’s still a desert hike. Make sure you bring water with you and consider wearing a hat or other sun protection for your hike.
From the trailhead, take Warpaint North Trail to the fork. Bear left and merge onto Warpaint South Trail. Follow this route as it heads towards the hills ahead, admiring the view of them and watching for wildlife along the trail. At the fork, stay right onto Warpaint North Trail. This route will lead you back to the trailhead.
