    The Waterfall Canyon Trail is a gorgeous hike just east of Salt Lake City. This trail is short but moderately challenging with a steep and rocky climb up to the falls. The views along the Waterfall Canyon Trail are absolutely breathtaking, and make this a must-do hike for anyone visiting the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest.

    Route Description for The Waterfall Canyon Trail

    The Waterfall Canyon Trail is one of the most popular and well-loved hikes in the Salt Lake City Area. This trail is moderately challenging with a steep and rocky ascent. Wearing proper hiking footwear is essential on this hike and, even though this trail is short, you should bring along lots of water for yourself and your hiking party. This hike is dog-friendly; however, dogs must be kept on leash for the entire time. The Waterfall Canyon Trail is accessible year-round. If you are hiking in the winter, be sure to bring along a pair of traction devices such as microspikes as this trail does get icy.

    The Waterfall Canyon Trail is not only accessible year-round, it is gorgeous year-round. In the summer, the spray from this cascading waterfall is a welcome refreshment after a steep and strenuous hike. In the fall, the surrounding forest bursts with orange and gold autumn leaves. No matter when you visit the Salt Lake City Area, Waterfall Canyon is definitely a must-do trail.

    From the 29th Street trailhead, follow the trail on your left for 0.3 km then take a right at the divide and follow the trail south. Continue along the trail as it curves eastward to follow Waterfall Creek to the falls themselves.

    Take a rest at the waterfalls and enjoy the beauty of the Utah wilderness before turning around and following your footsteps back out to the trailhead.
