Route Description for Golden Gate and Pacific Overlook Hike

Photographers, locals, and tourists from around the globe explore the Golden Gate and Pacific Overlook Trail for postcard-perfect views of the famous landmark. The unrivaled scenery along this walk attracts plenty of traffic, so expect to share the path! Head out in the early morning for a more tranquil experience and to watch the sunrise!

Once your camera is charged, follow the access path down to the Coastal Trail. From here, turn right, and you will be directed northeast past the Battery Godfrey to the Golden Gate Overlook. Revel in the beauty and grandeur of the famous red bridge, then retrace your footing southwest along the Coastal Trail, passing the Godfrey Battery to the West Battery. Wandering through chaparral, you will eventually reach the Pacific Overlook.

Marvel in the expansive panoramas of the Pacific and the bounding coastal headlands. Snap a few pictures, then head back the way you came to the trailhead and parking lot.
