If you are after a rough and rugged adventure in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado that will provide you with a good challenge and breathtaking views that sweep across the alpine landscape, then the hike to Mount Sneffels from the Upper Parking Lot is an ideal route for you to check out.
Setting out from the trailhead at the upper parking lot on Yankee Boy Basin Road, you will make your way to the northwest along the Blue Lakes Trail, before branching off to the north. Here, you will traverse a loose scree slope and climb further up towards the summit of Mount Sneffels.
After some scrambling through the rocky terrain near the summit, you will arrive at the top of Mount Sneffels and enjoy jaw-dropping views across the Rocky Mountains. Once you have had your fill of the views and are all rested up, carefully descend the mountain along the same route to return to the trailhead.
