Route Description for Native Lake Trail
The Native Lake Trail is an undeniably picturesque adventure in the Sawatch Mountain Range. Enjoy views of the snow-dusted peaks as far as the eye can see, as you trek along the exposed route. While the exposed terrain provides sweeping vistas, it can also be home to some extreme weather conditions, so make sure to check the forecast prior to your expedition. Furthermore, be sure to wear layers as insurance against changing conditions above the treeline.
Begin your adventure along the Native Lake Trail from the Native Lake Trailhead. From here, follow the path south and up a set of switchbacks. Carefully navigate the vertiginous terrain and you will shortly summit the timberline. As you trek through the alpine tundra, you will be in the presence of an abundance of wildflowers and epic high country views. Follow this path and it will eventually begin to descend to the shoreline of the glittering lake.
Revel in the sight of the charming lake and retrace your footing along the path all the way back to the trailhead when you are ready.
