Route Description for Redfish Inlet to Cramer Lakes Hike

Immerse yourself in Idaho’s high country and explore various terrains occupied with a variety of flora and fauna along this arduous trek. While this adventure is demanding, it is unrivaled in its natural beauty—which negates the sweat, in our opinion! Bring plenty of water or a water filter, wear a comfy pair of footwear, and dress in layers as insurance against changing conditions. Don’t forget that this journey departs from the Redfish Inlet Trailhead, which is found on the western end of the lake and accessed via the boat shuttle.

Setting out from the Redfish Inlet Trailhead, the Redfish Inlet to Cramer Lakes Hike travels the Redfish Inlet Trail west briefly, merging left onto the Redfish Creek-Baron Creek Trail. This incredible trail travels through a rocky corridor of jagged peaks occupied by aspen groves, pine trees, and rock fields. Admire the beauty of the craggy mountains and persist further into the wilderness, gradually climbing. Eventually, you will reach an intersection with Mount Cramer, veer left here, and the path will guide you over Redfish Lake Creek. Now traveling more southwardly, the incline will intensify as you contour the ridges of Redfish Peak.

After some hiking, you will reach the Cramer Lakes, which sits in the granite basin surrounded by several impressive summits, including The Temple, Mount Cramer, Dave’s Peak, Sevy Peak, and more. Explore the shoreline of the shimmering lakes and notice a charming cascade on the south end of Upper Cramer Lake. When you are through reveling in the beauty of the landscape, head back and retrace your footing along the path back to the trailhead.
