    Route Description for Llyn Trawsfynydd

Note that there is a path you can take to avoid the power plant and paved road along this route. Some people enjoy it, some don’t. You can choose to skip it if you prefer. The path is well-marked and a favourite with local cyclists and wildlife, so keep an eye out!

The Llyn Trawsfynydd walk begins by crossing the narrow footbridge over the lake. This is a neat view worth a photo or two! You’ll then climb through woodland on the western side of the lake. The path gains the vast majority of its overall elevation here. Take breaks to enjoy the vantage points over Snowdonia as you ascend.

Continue along the northern edge of the lake, passing by the visitor centre. There is a cafe here if you’d like a drink or snack. Then, walk along the eastern edge of the lake along A470. If you prefer to avoid this paved section, head west to the dam from the visitor centre and then turn south to take the path that hugs the western edge of the lake.

The loop finishes back in the village where you began.
