Route Description for Icehouse Canyon via Signal Peak
For a jaw-dropping hike with ever-changing scenery, the Icehouse Canyon Trail sees far fewer visitors than it should. This route that begins from the peak is perfect to use if you’ve come up Sixshooter Canyon next door and you want to use this route to make a loop. If you can time your hike for the autumn color change, you’ll be in for an extra treat.
From the peak, you’ll descend down into the canyon on your left. The surroundings change as you go, from colorful forest to scrubby chaparral. The descent is quite steep and can be rocky in some places, but routefinding won’t be a challenge as long as you keep heading down the middle of the canyon. This route will take you to the parking area for both canyons, completing your loop.
