Route Description for Abe’s Lake Trail

The hike to Abe’s Lake is a great adventure just outside of Oakley, Utah. This trail is challenging, with a very steep climb up to the lake. Hikers should arrive with good, supportive, grippy footwear and an adventurous spirit. We recommend bringing along a set of hiking poles to provide support along the steep sections of this trail. At the top, however, the views are more than rewarding. With pristine, crystal clear water, and an excellent vantage point, Abe’s Lake is a secluded slice of the Utah wilderness that you might be lucky enough to have all to yourself.

To hike to Abe’s Lake, begin at the trailhead at the end of Weber Canyon Road and follow the trail southeast. Just under 4.8 km in, the trail will divide; take the path on your left to hike straight up to Abe’s Lake.

Take a well-deserved rest on the shores of Abe’s Lake and enjoy an afternoon fishing, swimming, and exploring around this beautiful lake. When you are ready to head home, simply retrace your footsteps back to the trailhead where you began.
