Take on one of the most challenging treks on 10Adventures. Mount Triglav is a quintessential Slovenian trekking adventure to the summit of its highest mountain! The Self-Guided Mount Triglav Trek allows you to hike at your own pace and enjoy the incredible scenery of Triglav National Park. Please note this trek is only suitable for guests with previous mountaineering experience. You must be comfortable hiking for up to 9 hours per day with elevations of up to 1,950m (6397 ft) while carrying your own pack.
You’ll enjoy discovering the incredible beauty of Lake Bled and Bohinj Lake at the beginning and end of your adventure. Then you’ll spend the next three days hiking up Triglav and exploring the alpine lakes and valleys that surround the mountain. During your hike, you’ll enjoy delicious meals and warm beds in the rustic mountain huts perched on the mountain.
This short itinerary truly has it all - picturesque villages, amazing mountain scenery, and an exciting via ferrata climb to the summit that you’ll never forget!
Note: Hiking boots with ankle support and good grip are essential part of equipment. More than half of the route is on rough, rocky terrain, the summit part is a via ferrata with iron steps and ladders, and secure step is important for your well-being and safety.

Itinerary for Self-Guided Mount Triglav Trek
Hike the Scenic Route up Triglav
When you arrive in beautiful Bled, you’ll have a brief orientation meeting before your transfer to Lake Bohinj. Start your walk through the valley to the village of Stara Fužina and follow the trail through the forest into the Voje Valley. Your trek will pass the spectacular Mostnica Gorge and then you’ll hike up to the Vodnik Mountain Hut.
End the day with a warm meal at the Planika Mountain Hut.
Via Ferrata to the Summit
Your day starts with your journey to the summit of Triglav as you climb the via ferrata the remaining 400m to the top. Savour every second on the peak! Those afraid of the heights can take a detour to the top on a hiking path.
The rest of today's hike is your descent into the Triglav Lakes Valley where you’ll love the amazing views of the alpine lakes reflecting the rocky peaks.
Tonight you’ll stop at Double Lake and spend the night at the Triglav Lakes Hut, which is the most scenic hut on the mountain!
Descent to Lake Bohinj
This morning you’ll follow the trail to Black Lake and across the Komna Plateau. Eventually, you’ll find yourself descending back into the valley where you’ll find Bohinj Lake. If you have some extra energy, take the 20-minute hike to visit the spectacular Savica waterfall.
A transfer will take you back to Bled where your tour comes to an end.
