When you arrive in Kranjska Gora you’ll head to the hotel for an orientation meeting. A shuttle will transfer you to the beautiful Belopeška Lakes where you’ll begin your bike ride through the stunning alpine lakes.
Enjoy an easy day of cycling to Tomeja where the Slovenian, Austrian, and Italian borders meet. Finally, you’ll ride back to Kranjska Gora for the night.
After breakfast, you’ll get on your bike and ride into the Julian Alps. Your trail today goes up to the Vršič Mountain Pass at 1611 meters and then travels through the emerald Soča Valley. Your ride ends in the charming town of Bovec which is surrounded by lovely mountain views.
Today your ride takes you over Mount Kobariški Stol as you travel from Bovec to Kobarid. You have a choice of 4 different routes, from a 2-3 hr ride all the way to a challenging 5+ hr ride. The route will be a combination of a single track an old mule path that climbs the mountain. Today’s ride will be more challenging so make sure you reserve some energy to explore Kobarid and visit Napoleon’s bridge when you arrive.
You have another day of spectacular scenery ahead of you as you ride to Tolmin. On your way through the mountains, you’ll come across the picture-perfect towns of Drežnice and Krn nestled in their respective alpine valleys. Then it’s on to Tolmin Gorge, which is considered one of the most beautiful in the region with its emerald river that winds through the rocky canyon.
After breakfast, you’ll begin your ride to Šmartno. During your ride, you’ll notice the alpine scenery begin to flatten out into gorgeous open views of lush hills and valleys covered in orchards and vineyards.
Today you’ll be cycling into the Karst region. Streams and pools will appear and disappear along your route as they weave in and out of the limestone caves that make up the plateau. You’ll ride by the idyllic towns of Kostanjevica and Komen to admire their lovely architecture and quiet charm.
When you reach Pliskovica, you’ll enjoy the tranquillity of staying at a local tourist farm.
Today you’ll ride from Pliskovica to the Škocjan Caves. This enormous network of underground cathedral-sized caves is a stunning UNESCO-designated site. You’ll ride to the trails that follow the Gulf of Trieste and enjoy the gorgeous views and salty breezes of the sea. Your destination today is the stunning coastal town of Piran.
Today your tour ends, but you can still enjoy a stroll along the beautiful coast of Piran before taking the transfer to Ljubljana or Trieste.
