Route Description for Cross Fissures Trail
Meander the Cross Fissure Trail down to an overlook that delivers awe-inspiring vistas of the southward facing canyon walls. The Cross Fissures lookout presents sights of the rocky spires and rugged cliffs. Make sure you maintain on the marked path for the entirety of the hike as the rocky ledge is fragile and dangerous.
Begin the hike from the parking lot and track the Cross Fissures Trail. At the junction, you can go either way to complete the loop and get to the vantage point, but we recommend going counterclockwise. Follow the well-maintained path down to the lookout. Relish in the vista of the Black Canyon. Notice the lush vegetation that dot the cliffs and hoodoos. In the background aspen forests and rolling hills sit atop the canyon and provide a serene backdrop to the craggy cliffs.
Take your time and enjoy the scenery before continuing around the loop and back to the parking lot.
