When hiking in the winter months, be sure to wear microspikes and consider bringing trekking poles to navigate the likely icy and snowy terrain more easily and safely. Additionally, if you are seeking a more secluded adventure, then head out in the early morning to beat the crowds.
Note: you will be trekking through the wilderness, so be mindful of wildlife.

The Ranger Trail will guide you through meadowlands before guiding hikers beneath the timberline. Shortly after your departure from the trailhead, you will encounter an intersection. Here, keep left and you will be diverted onto the E.M Greenman Trail. Follow the E.M Greenman Trail all the way up to the summit of Green Mountain, which will reveal wonderful sights of the Front Range snow-dusted peaks.
