Route Description for Green Mountain via Ranger Trail
Immerse yourself in the beautiful scenery of the Colorado wilderness. Hike up through the stunning woodlands up to the summit, which exposes unparalleled views of the Front Range snow-capped peaks that line the horizon. When hiking in the winter months, be sure to wear microspikes and consider bringing trekking poles to navigate the likely icy and snowy terrain more easily and safely. Additionally, if you are seeking a more secluded adventure, then head out in the early morning to beat the crowds.
Note: you will be trekking through the wilderness, so be mindful of wildlife.
Embark on your journey along the Green Mountain via Ranger Trail from the Ranger Trailhead. From here, track south. The Ranger Trail will guide you through meadowlands before guiding hikers beneath the timberline. Shortly after your departure from the trailhead, you will encounter an intersection. Here, keep left and you will be diverted onto the E.M Greenman Trail. Follow the E.M Greenman Trail all the way up to the summit of Green Mountain, which will reveal wonderful sights of the Front Range snow-dusted peaks.
After reveling in the epic vistas, continue along the path to Green Mountain West Ridge Trail. At the next junction, turn right onto the Ranger Trail and follow the path all the way back to the trailhead, marking the end of your adventure.
