Route Description for Sawhill Ponds Trail
The Sawhill Ponds Hike is a great natural escape from the busyness of the city. Reconnect with nature and get out into the fresh air along this charming adventure. Get the whole family outside and bring your pup along this lovely nature walk. Note dogs are permitted along the gravel path, but not on the boardwalk, but don’t worry, there are several connecting routes to modify your hike.
Embark on your excursion along the Sawhill Ponds Hike from the Walden Trailhead. From here, track west along the Walden Ponds Trail. At the first intersection, veer left and merge onto the Sawhill Ponds Trail. This path will trek north alongside the shimmering waters of the Sawhill Ponds. Curving south you will be walking through wetlands. Now hiking east through the wetlands, you will eventually meet the bird viewing shelter.
Enjoy the sights of geese, herons, ducks, and soaring birds from here. Follow along this route back up to Walden Ponds Trail. Here, keep right and retrace your footing along the path back to the trailhead.
