The Corn Du, Pen-y-Fan, Cribyn, and Taf Fechan Circular Walk is a challenging and rewarding adventure in Brecon Beacons National Park that will see you traverse the central beacons for exceptional views overlooking the rugged terrain of South Wales. While out on the trail, you will climb up the steep mountainside to traverse several summits in the central beacons and visit the diving board at Fan-y-Big, before descending the mountainside on the return leg. While this route may be difficult in certain areas, the breathtaking scenery is more than enough reward for your troubles.
Route Description for Corn Du, Pen-y-Fan, Cribyn, and Taf Fechan Circular Walk
If you have been searching for a challenging walking route in Brecon Beacons National Park that features scenic lookouts from atop the park's most well-known peaks, then you will certainly want to give the Corn Du, Pen-y-Fan, Cribyn, and Taf Fechan Circular Walk a shot. Remember that the terrain here is rugged and exposed to the elements, so come prepared with a map and compass, proper footwear, and any gear necessary for the weather conditions on the day. Setting out from the car park, you will begin working your way up the steep mountainside to the northeast, eventually reaching the stunning summit viewpoint atop Corn Du. From here, you will continue on to the northeast, climbing further uphill for a short distance to reach the highest point in South Wales, Pen-y-Fan. After experiencing the breathtaking views from this popular mountaintop, you will head to the southeast in order to traverse Cribyn on the way to Fan-y-Big, where you can sit atop the diving board, a precarious stone vantage point that is an amazing spot for a quick photo op. From here, you will first make your way south and then to the west, descending into a valley to cross over the waters of Taf Fechan. Climbing up the opposite slope of the valley, you will then head northwest across a ridgeline in the direction of Corn Du, eventually heading back down the mountainside to the west on the return to the car park.Getting to the Corn Du, Pen-y-Fan, Cribyn, and Taf Fechan Circular Walk Trailhead
