Route Description for Crickhowell Skyline Circular Walk
For those adventurers that are looking to leave the high-foot traffic trails to the tourists and explore the rugged landscape of Wales through a lesser-walked part of Brecon Beacons National Park, the Crickhowell Skyline Circular Walk is a great option.
Setting out from the trailhead, you will make your way to the southwest to traverse the lower slopes of Pen Cerrig-Calch, enjoying sweeping views across the countryside that increase in beauty as you gain elevation. Reaching the top of Crug Hywel, you will turn to the north and make the final push up the steep terrain to the summit of Pen Cerrig-Calch for an amazing sightline overlooking the surrounding landscape.
From here, you will make your way north along the ridgeline to reach the slightly higher summit of Pen Allt-Mawr at 720 m above sea level, enjoying the stunning views of the surrounding mountains as you continue along the ridge to reach the northern terminus of the route. At this point, you will head downhill and into the valley to meet up with a road, following it southeast alongside the banks of Grwyne Fechan until you arrive back at the trailhead where you began.
