Route Description for Cambus o’ May Pinewood Trail
Just an hour drive from Aberdeen, the Cambus o’ May Pinewood Trail is the perfect escape into nature and can be completed in under 2 hours leaving plenty of time to continue your adventure elsewhere. From sparkling forest lochan to marvellous views up Deeside and endless towering pines, you’ll likely feel like you’ve stepped into a fairy-tale on this enchanting forest walk.
In the car park, spot the information board and take a glance at the “Pine Trail” which this route follows. Following the yellow waymarkers, you’ll head up into the trees on the path that rises before you. Views of Deeside on the left open early on as you enjoy the scenic first stretch along a low ridge. Up ahead, a still lochan enclosed by lofty pines appears on the right as you continue straight ahead, following the yellow waymarkers. A few bridge crossings in the woods further on make for some nice variation on the trail and further on you’ll pass another lovely lochan. The circular path soon leads back to the car park where the walk began and you’ll no doubt feel a sense of peace as you depart the woods after this enchanting encounter with nature.
Getting to the Cambus o’ May Pinewood Trail Trailhead
To get to the Cambus o’ May Pinewood Trail from Aberdeen, drive 60.8 km from A944,B9125, B977, A980 and A93 to Aberdeenshire then turn right to enter the car park for Cambus o’ May Pinewood trail where the walk begins.
