This fun trail features beautiful forests, plenty of wildlife, and a fascinating castle, ensuring that there is always something to look at throughout the walk. Setting out from the car park, you will make your way to the southwest along the shores of Loch an Eilein, where you will enjoy some beautiful views across the water. Here, you will find the ruins of a castle that is situated on an island in the middle of the loch that dates back to the 14th Century. After taking in the views of the loch, you will continue on to the southwest to traverse the boggy landscape surrounding the smaller Loch Gamhna, before heading to the northeast through a vast stretch of forest. Take some time here to relax in the natural setting of the forest, while keeping an eye out for the various wildlife species that call the area home. Eventually, you will pass by the Rothiemurchus Camp and Caravan Site, where the trail will turn back to the southwest. Here, you will once again work your way through serene forests and open meadows, before arriving back at the car park where you began.
