Goosenecks and Sunset Point Trail
The Goosenecks and Sunset Point trail is a must-do hike in Capitol Reef National Park. This short trail is relatively flat and very family-friendly. As the name suggests, this trail is a perfect hike to get incredible panoramic views of the sun setting over the Utah desert.

Route Description for Goosenecks and Sunset Point Trail
The Goosenecks and Sunset Point trail is a beautiful hike just up the road from the Capitol Reef Visitors Center. This trail does not have any shade so make sure you wear sunscreen and a good sunhat when you embark on your hike. There is no water along this trail, so bring enough along for everyone in your hiking party. The views from The Goosenecks and Sunset Point trail are absolutely breathtaking. This hike is a great place to unwind after a long day exploring the Park and a perfect spot to enjoy the incredible colors of the Utah desert as the sun dips below the horizon.
From the trailhead, follow the path south past Panorama Point overlook. The trail leads to two equally stunning viewpoints: The Goosenecks Overlook, and Sunset Point.
Enjoy the views from the overlooks before turning around and following the same route back to the trailhead.
Getting to the Goosenecks and Sunset Point Trail Trailhead
This hike begins at the Panorama Point overlook, just over 3.2 km northwest of the Capitol Reef Visitors Center on highway 24.
