Route Description for Mesa, Greenlee, and Red Rock Canyon Loop
The Mesa, Greenlee, and Red Rock Canyon Loop is a stunning, family-friendly adventure near Colorado Springs. Revel in the grandeur of the red-hued rocks that litter the terrain and sights of the Front Range peaks as you navigate the undulating path. This revered route is a popular weekend escape, so don’t be surprised if you must share the trail! For a more sequestered experience head out on a weekday morning.
Departing from the trailhead off West High Street, the Mesa, Greenlee, and Red Rock Canyon Loop follows the Mesa Trail south. Soon after departing the trailhead, you will want to merge onto the Greenlee Trail. As you hike atop the mesa you will pass a small reservoir before venturing along the west side of the Lyons Sandstone Quarry. When you reach an intersection with the Quarry Pass Trail you will want to turn left along the route.
At the next intersection, veer left onto the Red Rock Canyon Path. This trail will lead you along the eastern side of the quarry and back to the reservoir. From here, hook onto the Red Rock Canyon Trail down the mesa, and back to the trailhead.
