Route Description for Pulpit Rock Peak Loop

Conveniently located near the city’s center, the Pulpit Rock Peak Loop is an awesome urban escape. Traveling through lush meadowlands before transforming into a rocky climb, this trek is reserved for intrepid spirits who don’t mind the odd scramble. There is a myriad of trails within the open space, and they are unmarked, so we highly suggest using the trail GPS to easily navigate the terrain. Additionally, the terrain up the bluff can be quite slippery after rainfalls and has been known to roll the odd ankle, so exercise caution and wear sturdy footwear!

Embark on your adventure along the Pulpit Rock Peak Loop from the trailhead off North Nevada Avenue. From here, head southeast along the path to an intersection. At this point, hikers will want to stay right, hiking along the boundary of the park. Tracking southeast through the meadowlands and alongside the southern side of the gigantic outcropping, you will eventually reach an intersection. Here, veer left, and the terrain will quickly transform into rock as you begin your ascent up the ridgeline. Once you reach the base of Pulpit Rock, you will begin your vertiginous and concentration-demanding climb. Mind your footing, and soon you will summit the peak of the outcrop.

Revel in the views of the city and the Front Range peaks before continuing north, slowly and carefully descending the steep terrain. At the intersection, keep left and at the next right. Soon you will reconnect with the initial trail you started out on. Retrace your footing along this route back to the trailhead.
