Route Description for Mullion Cove Circular Walk

Walking the Mullion Cove Circular Trail will take you through some hilly terrain that will get your heartrate up a bit, although it isn’t steep enough to present a real challenge. Even still, you will want to wear proper walking shores in order to better traverse the terrain. Additionally, there are some steep drop offs along the coast, so remember to keep an eye on children and dogs when working through these areas.

If you are looking to experience some exceptional views of coastal Cornwall, then you will need to look no further than the Mullion Cove Circular Walk. This trail passes through the beautifully scenic Lizard National Nature Reserve, offering amazing views of white sandy beaches and turquoise waters before arriving at the historic seaside haven of the Mullion Cove Harbour that protects ships from the rough seas. This is a lovely adventure to explore the natural beauty of the Cornish Coast with the family.

Setting out from the car park, you will initially make your way to the southwest along Nansmellyon Road, before turning left along the first road. From here, you will make your way to the southeast to cross over a small stream, climbing uphill and leaving the village behind as you traverse an open field to reach the edge of Ghost Hill Road. Turning right here, you will follow the road for only a few metres, before picking up a lane on your right leading to the southwest.

Here, you will continue across the farmland until you meet back up with a road, following it to the right to pass by the Teneriffe Farm Campsite on your left. After descending slightly downhill across the open fields, you will meet up with the coast and be greeted by breathtaking views across the English Channel.

Turning right here along the coastal path, you will make your way to the northwest to enter into the boundary of The Lizard NNR. Continuing on to the north, you will enjoy some more amazing views along the coast that include rocky coves, sandy beaches, and the offshore mass of Mullion Island. After descending slightly downhill, you will make your way past the historic Mullion Cove Harbour and the Porthmellin Cafe, which is a great place to grab some refreshments. From here, it is a short walk up the road to the northwest to return to the car park having completed the Mullion Cove Circular Walk.
