This is a popular route, so if you are hoping for a secluded adventure, then you may want to consider another hike! If you are determined to trek the Green Mountain and Hayden Loop then try an early morning, weekday adventure when the crowds are thinner. Note that this path travels through arid terrain, so be mindful of rattlesnakes.
Embark on your adventure along the Green Mountain and Hayden Loop from the trailhead. From here, go left on the Green Mountain Trail. Soon after your departure from the trailhead, take the Hayden Trail north through the meadowlands. Trek along this route, and at the next junction, keep left. Eventually, you will encounter another intersection with the Green Mountain Trail. Take a sharp right turn onto the Green Mountain Trail which heads southeast.
Follow this path through the grassy plains, noticing sights of Denver and the Dakota Hogback Ridge. Track along this route all the way back to the trailhead, marking the end of your adventure.
