The Dawlish to Teignmouth Walk is a great route along the South Devon coast that produces some amazing views across the English Channel. While out on the trail, you will climb uphill on the way to Teignmouth before walking along the water’s edge on the return leg back to the trailhead. There are some steep climbs/descents that could prove to be challenging for less-mobile walkers or those that are unsteady on their feet, so keep that in mind before heading out.
Route Description for Dawlish to Teignmouth Walk
If slightly challenging terrain and breathtaking seaside views are the goal of your walk, then the Dawlish to Teignmouth Walk is the perfect route for your next adventure. Setting out from the trailhead at the southern end of Dawlish, you will initially make your way west before turning to the south on an uphill climb towards Teignmouth. Once there, you will descend the hillside and turn to the northeast, following along the rugged terrain of the coast as you work your way along the water’s edge. Enjoy the stunning views that stretch across the English Channel, as you make your way across the undulating terrain that will bring you back to the trailhead.
Getting to the Dawlish to Teignmouth Walk Trailhead
To reach the trailhead for the Dawlish to Teignmouth Walk from the Dawlish rail station, head south on Station Road for 116 m and continue straight on Teignmouth Hill/A379 for 1.1 km. Make a right on South Downs Road and you will reach the starting point in 87 m.
