Kannah Creek Trail
The Kannah Creek Trail is a lengthy and physically demanding adventure in Grand Mesa National Forest that will see you gain considerable elevation through rough terrain. While out hiking the trail, you will climb uphill through the forests alongside Kannah Creek, gaining over 4200ft of elevation to arrive at Carson Lake. Hikers should take note that this is a very long and arduous journey, and while it can be done in a single day for those with great physical fitness, many people break it up into a multi-day backpacking trip.

Route Description for Kannah Creek Trail
Whether you are planning a multi-day trek through the area and are looking to camp at Carson Lake, or consider yourself a seasoned adventurer capable of handling this lengthy route in a single day, the Kannah Creek Trail is a rugged adventure in Grand Mesa National Forest that will certainly test your limits.
Setting out from the Kannah Creek trailhead, you will head to the northeast along the path and follow it through a rugged stretch of landscape that is blanketed with a variety of plantlife. Here, you will follow closely alongside the coursing Kannah Creek, as you gradually climb uphill for a total elevation gain of 1,281 m.
Reaching the top of the trail, you will arrive at the welcome sight of Carson Lake, where you can set up camp if you are planning on spending the night, or simply lounge by the water’s edge. After resting up, simply head back down the same trail to return to the trailhead where you began your lengthy adventure.
