Kebler Pass and Lake Irwin Hike

The Kebler Pass and Lake Irwin Hike is a short adventure in the Elk Mountains of Colorado that features a scenic lake and views of the surrounding mountains. While out hiking the trail, you will work your way around the shores of Lake Irwin, taking some time to visit a small waterfall at its north end before looping around the south side and taking in the views of nearby peaks. Lake Irwin is also a popular spot for paddleboarding, so if you feel like heading out onto the water then don’t forget your gear.

Route Description for Kebler Pass and Lake Irwin Hike
For casual outdoor enthusiasts or families that are looking to get out into the mountains and breathe some fresh air, the Kebler Pass and Lake Irwin Hike is a great option to do so without the challenges of attempting a more advanced trail. This easy-going adventure will take you around the scenic shores of a lake that is popular with paddle boarders, with the mountains providing a nice backdrop against the surface of the water.
Setting out from the trailhead, you will make your way to the southeast along the shoreline of Lake Irwin, taking in the lovely views across the water as you round the southern tip of the lake. Here, you will follow the water’s edge and take in the views of the surrounding mountains, before arriving at the north end of the lake, where you will have the opportunity to check out a charming little waterfall. Heading to the south, you will pass by the campground and enjoy some final views across the water, before making your way into the trailhead where you began.

The trailhead for the Kebler Pass and Lake Irwin Hike can be found along Lake Irwin Road 826, at a roadside parking area beside Lake Irwin.
